Whenever you’re done shooting movie using your Windows Phone, Microsoft
expectations you’ll edit it using its new Video Tuner application.
On
Wednesday, Microsoft first showed Video Tuner, a new Windows seven phone app for
Windows Phone eight. 1-and not Windows Phone eight, at least for now-which
enables users to go a bit past Microsoft’s Movie Moments application for Windows
Phone 8. one, which the company debuted two months ago.
As the name
indicates, Movie Moments restricted customers to editing a cut down to 60
seconds or much less, then saving it or even sharing it online. Based on Matt
Collins, global movie director of applications and companion marketing for
Microsoft, but Video Tuner will be more strong, with the ability to shorten,
crop, switch, or rotate video clips, use filters, and even layer sound files.
The final cut can be stored to a small , medium, or even large file size, and
then discussed to social networks or stored to Microsoft’s OneDrive fog up
storage.

Movies can be lightly or heavily compressed. |
Because Collins noted, video writers are one of the app categories by which
Windows Phone is under-represented. Film Maker 8. 1, the paid app, offers 1
alternative, as well as the Nokia Movie Director companion app. “The Video Tuner
application is made to make video editing simple powerful, to let users easily
and quickly edit a video they’ve grabbed, ” Collins said.
Movie Tuner
does ship which includes limitations. For one thing, Microsoft does not intend
to offer the app instantly on the Windows Phone 8. zero platform, as an
incentive to exert users to upgrade, Collins said. Because the idea would be to
allow users to rapidly edit a video they’ve simply shot, Video Tuner will not
allow cutting together 2 different video files, either. It is also unclear
whether the application will live on Microsoft-branded Lumia phones as a stock
application, or whether users will need to download it from the Home windows
Store.

You can apply image filters to video edited with Video Tuner, but only to the entirety of the video at once. |
Actually it’s fair to think of Movie Tuner as an Instagram with regard to
Windows Phone video. If you would like, you can trim external moments of video
right from the start and the end of the movie, but not the middle. Yes, you are
able to adjust the contrast, vividness and exposure-but to the movie as a whole.
And while you can coating a music track to start where you’d like, it is going
to play out through the end from the track. While a cell phone doesn’t
necessarily lend by itself to heavy-duty video modifying, I found myself wanting
the choice of a bit more flexibility.
Whether customers choose Video
Tuner or even Movie Maker 8. one, they won’t have almost the editing options
provided by a Pinnacle Studio as well as native iMovie for iOS devices-which
gives Microsoft the lofty target to fusillade. Video Tuner is built within the
latest version of Microsoft’s image resolution SDK, which should help thirdparty
developers make their own, contending apps. Given that Nokia and today Microsoft
have made the Lumia cameras one of the platform’s marketing points, it makes
sense for Ms to continue to invest in the tools to create that hardware shine
actually brighter.
