Microsoft and Canon now have an accord |
Ms and Canon have has announced a broad cross-licensing agreement that,
potentially, could see Canon's optics, lens and picture processing technology
find a way in to future Nokia Lumia mobile phones.
The pact, announced
previously this week, allows the companies totally free access to each other's
obvious portfolios, including "certain electronic imaging and mobile customer
products. "
Nokia cell phones and then smartphones have always been renowned
for their advanced image resolution technology, such as the 41-megapixel
Pureview devices like the Nokia Lumia 1020.
The addition of Canon technology
could give Microsoft a good imaging advantage over Apple company and Android
manufacturers such as Samsung and HTC
continue.
Possibilities
Traditionally Nokia experienced deployed Carl
Zeiss lens on its high-end mobile phones, while pioneering its own
market-leading sensors, such as the DSLR-sized 1 within the Pureview
range.
Nokia has also pushed out a few fine imaging software recently, with its
ever improving Htc Camera app leading the way.
At the same time, Microsoft
may be envisioning the actual Canon partnership as a means associated with
enhancing the Kinect sensor while, for Canon, might a Windows-powered digital
camera maintain the way?
